Will I get a 1099 or tax form for my Jackpot winnings?
Cash prizes from the Jackpot Challenge may be taxable. Winners are responsible for any taxes on their prizes. This isn't tax advice. Talk to a tax professional about your situation.
For US winners:
- If your total cash winnings from Reklaim reach the IRS reporting threshold in a calendar year ($600 currently for most prize winnings), Reklaim is required to issue you an IRS Form 1099 before the following tax-filing deadline.
- Before we can pay out a prize that may trigger reporting, we may request a completed W-9 (your legal name, address, and tax ID). You'll be prompted in-app when this is required. Don't submit a W-9 anywhere else claiming to be Reklaim.
- You're responsible for reporting your winnings on your tax return.
For Canadian winners:
- Tax treatment of prize winnings varies by province. Reklaim does not issue Canadian tax slips for Jackpot winnings under normal rules, but consult a tax professional in your province to confirm what (if anything) you need to report.
Other notes:
- Reklaim does not provide tax advice. The information above is the basic compliance flow only.
- If you're unsure a tax request is really from Reklaim, contact support before sending anything.
- 1099 forms are typically issued via email or US mail in late January. If you expect a form and haven't received one by mid-February, contact support.
